The Cambridge Young Learners English Tests are designed specially for children between the ages of seven and twelve.

LEVELS 
The tests consist of three key levels of assessment:

Starters Movers Flyers
For children from the age of seven, after about 100 hours of English language learning. A typical candidate is aged eight to eleven and has completed 175 hours of English language learning. A typical candidate is aged nine to twelve and has completed 250 hours of English language learning. Flyers is equivalent to the level of the Cambridge Key English Test (KET).


WHAT ARE THE TEST LIKE?

Starters, Movers and Flyers:

  • are designed to be interesting and enjoyable
  • focus on simple, relevant and meaningful language use
  • encourage effective teaching and learning
  • provide every student with a reward for his or her efforts as there are no fail grades
  • test all four language skills - listening, speaking, writing and reading
  • create a positive attitude to testing
  • represent a first step on the Cambridge ladder of achievement in English language learning.
